As some of you have noted, I haven’t been posting as often as I was. I’d like to assure you that this is not because of writers’ block or lack of ideas, in fact, if anything it’s because I have too many ideas. Right now, my desktop has like some 15windows open on it with things that I’ve started but not finished. I’m looking for that big idea that I can get supremely motivated to write about.
Then again, there’s my overwhelming oppressive laziness and high call volume as of late that are also contributing to it, but I digress.
Some things that I’m working on at the moment:
Public Education on what it is that EMS does and can do for them:
- EMS people have a responsibility to inform the general public about what it is that we do and what we can do for them. Through public education we can vastly improve patient outcomes more so than almost any treatment modality. If people are more confident in calling us, we can provide earlier intervention for things like CVA, MI, STEMI, and other conditions that people develop where fast 911 care determines the most positive endings for all concerned.
- Building on the “Cat Puke Chicken” piece, bad politics in EMS hurts patient care. I’m of the opinion that corruption can only occur in the dark and with concerned EMS people shining the public spotlight on these issues it can be minimized and diminished in most areas of the country.
- Building on “The Shine Factor” to show that public education is like positive marketing for your service and with that comes improved public perception, which can increase the morale of your people though increased street cred.
- EMS Certification lists and ways that they can be improved.
- Booger jokes.
- Random stuff.
So, in the near future I’ll be finishing this stuff and posting it up here for your reading pleasure. Don’t give up on me just yet.
Regards, got a call…
